i have an opposite of bullying technique every artfight where i sniff out ppl who are like 13 and i mass compliment their stuff w a drawing. everyone should do this. get your friends to do it, like a biker gang
i articulated this rather sloppily so, agreeing with people in the tags, encouraging kids with ocs from fandoms you may have grown up with that were seen as “cringey” is incredibly cathartic. giving art to beginner or struggling artists boosts their spirit during artfight as well. you or a group of your friends showing anyone who might be ignored because of their interests or their skill not being “good enough” that You Care is just a cool thing to do and will probably make your younger self happy too. if you have the time, go for it!
I have had the extreme good fortune over the past few weeks of participating in a “Women In Animation” mentorship circle about different genres of storyboarding. I have learned so much from it so far and it has been SO FUN!!!! My heart is very full and I’m so grateful for the good experience I’ve had with my mentor and fellow mentees. This was a three week assignment where our prompt was to use some provided action reference and character designs created by Jorge Gutierrez (who we got to meet virtually!! Wow!!) and come up with an action genre sequence. This morphed into more of an action comedy thing in the end because I wanted to practice my writing skills and I my instinct is always to do something comedic lol
In the end, I did a lot of things I’ve never done before on this and am proud of all the work I put into it!!
My cat had dental surgery done cause she was so starved and neglected before I got her that her teeth rotted before she was even 3 years old! While I was waiting, I was telling her entire saga to a teary-eyed vet tech, how my cat died and just before his birthday would’ve been she showed up on my porch pregnant and starving, how she was locked in a shed with 30 other cats, how their kittens were born in a pile of beer cans, how the shed was burned down by a meth head, how I stole every cat behind my hoarder neighbor’s back… And when I got home I realized the entire time I was wearing a t-shirt I made depicting the incident. Did she notice? Will it plague her memories for years to come? I may never know…
